7 Things to Do to Lift Your Spirits – A Chiropractor’s Guide to Feeling Better Inside and Out6/24/2025 Click on Title to continue reading We all have days when our energy dips or our outlook feels a little dim. Life happens—but so does healing. As a chiropractor, I know that the body and mind are deeply connected. When we nurture both, amazing things can happen. If you’re looking for a little spark to brighten your day, here are 7 things you can do to lift your spirits—naturally, gently, and with love.
1. Move Your Body (Even Just a Little!) Movement is medicine. You don’t have to hit the gym hard—just take a walk, stretch, or dance around your kitchen to your favorite song. Motion increases circulation, releases feel-good endorphins, and helps reset your mood. Even a few minutes can make a difference. Chiropractic tip: Gentle spinal mobility exercises can release tension and help you feel more grounded and energized. 2. Breathe with Intention When we’re stressed or low, our breathing becomes shallow. Try this: inhale deeply for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and repeat. This calms your nervous system and brings you back to the present moment. Bonus: Add a calming essential oil like lavender or eucalyptus to enhance the effect. 3. Step Outside and Soak in Some Sun Fresh air and sunlight are natural mood boosters. Even just 10 minutes outdoors can improve your outlook. Nature has a quiet way of reminding us that everything is connected—and that we’re part of something bigger. 4. Connect with Someone You Trust A heartfelt conversation can work wonders. Call a friend, text a loved one, or chat with someone who lifts you up. You don’t have to carry your worries alone. Sometimes just being heard is healing in itself. 5. Gratitude: Small Shifts, Big Changes Write down three things you’re grateful for today. They don’t have to be big—hot coffee, a kind word, a cozy blanket. Gratitude shifts your brain out of stress and into a state of peace and abundance. 6. Do One Thing That Brings You Joy Joy is powerful medicine. Paint, cook, garden, read, play music—whatever lights you up. Even if it’s just for 10 minutes, give yourself permission to do something just because it makes you feel good. 7. Get Aligned—Literally and Figuratively When your spine is aligned, your nervous system functions better. And when your mindset is aligned with self-care and positivity, your whole world shifts. If you’ve been feeling out of sorts, a chiropractic adjustment can be a great way to reset both your body and your mood. Final Thoughts Lifting your spirits doesn’t have to mean making big changes overnight. Sometimes, the smallest steps bring the biggest shifts. Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing better than you think—and you’re not alone. If you're ever feeling stuck, tense, or just need a reset, my door is always open.
